Default What proffession should I take through all 4 campaigns next?

I have taken a warrior and a monk through all 4 and presently getting them titles.

What other profession is the most fun and versatile that I could use to get through all 4 campaigns as well as my two main characters, my monk and my warrior?

I heard that ranger, necro and elementalist is very good and that I should focus on them next, but which of these three is the most fun and versatile?

Thanks.

Default My two cents...

Out of the three you mentioned, I'd say:

Necromancers are good damage dealers/debuffers and can add protection and support to the party through minions and condition removal. They have the best energy management in the game (including paragons). Necromancers are versatile, as they can specialize in minion mastery, AoE damage through curses, party support and spiking through blood, and so on. They make good farmers, as well.

Elementalists are very strong damage dealers, pretty decent debuffers/snarers, and may add party support through wards. They have three of the best E-management elites (Mind Blast, Elemental Attunement, for use with a normal attunement, and the newly buffed Ether Renewal), but are otherwise seldom good at managing their large energy pools. Elementalists are fairly versatile, as they can make powerful AoE nukers/DoT, snarer/debuffers, air spikers (and addparty protection with Blinding Surge), Warders (with strong earth damage spells as well), and so on. They make good farmers too.

Rangers are decent ranged single-target damage dealers, have pretty nice AoE with Barrage/Volley, have traps that inflict damage and impose variosus conditions, but excel at spreading conditions (poisoned, crippled, bleeding, blinded, and DAZED) at range and interrupting (see also, DAZED). Rangers have pets, which can add a rather nice ammount of damage to the repertoire. Rangers, in contrast to the casters mentioned above, survive. They have the highest unmodified armor agianst elemental damage in the game, and have decent base armor as well, combined with a large pool of stances for blocking and kiting (although the latter applies more or less only to PvP). They have good energy management through Expertise (and, if needed, elites such as Prepared Shot). Rangers are extremely versatile, as they can spike, deal AoE damage, tank, trap, spread conditions, interrupt, run for their lives, and so on. Rangers can farm with moderate success (Forest of the Wailing Lord works for farming shards, glacial stones can be farmed with touch ranger, etc.), but are often sub-par farmers than necromancers or elementalists (and monks, and sins, and rits, and wars, and dervs...).

My primary is a ranger.

Fun = it is really up to you. If your fun is to dish damage and see things going boom, then ele or necro. If you, like me, enjoy when you daze an ele and interrupt all of his/her spells, then ranger of course.

Versatility = Necromancers.

Personally I love rangers, I used to be strictly warrior and I thought it was the best thing. Then i decided to make a ranger and it was a ton of fun. I'm a health degen ranger and i love it. Interrupting casters is always fun too. Go ranger man!

Nothing can beat the versatility of a ranger.

That said you really need a mesmer

If you want something that's fun and also more than "select target, 1-2-3, rinse and repeat" then go for a Mesmer. It can't beat the damage of most other classes, it can't pull off caster-shutdown in PvE the way a Ranger can, but they're insanely fun to play. And since you have experience playing a caster through the campaigns, it will help you adapt to the Mesmer style.

If Necro, Ranger and ele are your only options, make a Ranger. They're the best out of the three, in my rather biased opinion.

For me, sin was hands down the fastest prof for crushing all the campaigns. Very little of that consisted of using perma. (You'll find in fact very little in actual PvE where perma helps more than it hurts)

Two questions:

1. Why would you want to go through a game you paid for, as fast as possible? (Unless it's your umpteenth character)

2. What's perma? And why would you use it?

Perma-SF is a build that takes advantage of the latest buff to [Shadow Form] to keep it up permanently. It makes you invulnerable to almost everything you'll face in the game. Mostly used for Running or Farming. REALLY boring to use in general PvE.

"Fun" is subjective, but you used the V-word, and that means RANGER!
